Credits & Balance
This page explains how credits, account balance, top-ups, bills, redemption codes, and reward balance work in SynStar AI.
SynStar AI uses a prepaid credit system. Before making API requests, your account needs to have enough available credits. Credits are deducted automatically when you use supported models and services.
What Are Credits?
Credits are the prepaid balance in your SynStar AI account.
Credits are denominated in USD and are used to pay for API usage across supported models and services.

To redeem a code:
- Go to Wallet Management.
- Find the Redemption Code Recharge section.
- Enter your redemption code.
- Click Redeem.
- If the code is valid, the corresponding credits will be added to your account.

| Proceeds to be Used | Reward amount available to transfer or use |
| Total Revenue | Total accumulated reward revenue |

Invite rewards may need to be transferred to your account balance before they can be used. If a transfer function is available, you can use it to move eligible reward amounts into your balance.
Invite reward rules may vary depending on promotion settings, referral conditions, and account eligibility.
Balance Deduction
Credits are deducted automatically when you make API requests.
The deducted amount depends on:
- The selected model
- The endpoint used
- The actual token usage or task usage
- The model’s listed price
- The Token Group used by your API token
- The Billing Tier linked to that Token Group
- Any model-specific billing rules
You do not need to manually calculate the deduction for each request. SynStar AI calculates it automatically and records the final deduction in your usage history.
Account Balance vs Token Group
Account Balance and Token Group are different concepts.
Your account balance determines how many credits you have available.
A Token Group determines the billing rate applied when an API token is used.
text
Account Balance = how much credit you have
Token Group = how the usage cost is settledFor example, if your account has $100 credits and your API token belongs to a 0.3 billing group, eligible API usage with that token will be settled using the 0.3 billing rate.
The final cost is then deducted from your account balance.
Account Balance vs Token Quota
Account Balance and Token Quota are also different.
| Item | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Account Balance | The total credits available in your account |
| Token Group | The billing rate group used for settlement |
| Token Quota | The maximum amount a specific API token is allowed to use |
A token quota helps control how much a specific API token can consume.
If an API token has a custom quota, the token cannot spend more than that quota.
If an API token is set to unlimited quota, it means the token itself has no separate usage cap. Actual API usage is still limited by your account balance.
text
Unlimited quota does not mean unlimited free usage. It only means that the API token has no separate quota limit.
Insufficient Balance
If your account balance is insufficient, API requests may fail or be rejected.
Common reasons include:
- Your account balance is too low
- The selected model requires more credits than your current balance
- A task-based API requires enough credits before task submission
- Your token quota has been reached
- Your account is under payment, risk, or compliance review
To continue using the API, you may need to top up your account or adjust your token quota.
Usage Records
You can view your credit usage records in the dashboard.
Usage records may include:
- Request time
- API token
- Token Group
- Model name
- Endpoint
- Input tokens
- Output tokens
- Cached tokens, if applicable
- Task usage, if applicable
- Billing rate
- Final credit deduction
- Request status
- Error information, if applicable
These records help you monitor spending, review model usage, and troubleshoot billing-related issues.
Balance Adjustments
In some cases, your balance may be adjusted manually or automatically.
Examples include:
- Bonus credits from top-up rewards
- Invite reward transfers
- Redemption code credits
- Refund adjustments
- Billing correction adjustments
- Promotional credits
- Manual support adjustments
If you believe your balance is incorrect, please contact support with your account email and relevant payment or usage records.
Refund and Credit Reversal
Used credits are generally non-refundable.
If a refund is approved for an unused top-up payment, the related credits may be removed from your account balance.
If bonus credits were granted for that payment, those bonus credits may also be removed.
If credits have already been used, the refund amount may be reduced or the refund request may be rejected according to our refund policy.
Best Practices
To manage your balance effectively:
- Check your balance before running large workloads.
- Review the model price before scaling usage.
- Use token quotas to control spending by API key.
- Use lower-cost models for simple or high-volume tasks.
- Monitor Bills and Usage Records regularly.
- Top up in advance to avoid request failures caused by insufficient balance.
- Keep payment receipts or transaction references for support requests.
